Inauspicious Face or Inauspicious Mindset?

A man in a kingdom became infamous for having an inauspicious face. People believed that seeing his face in the morning would bring them misfortune throughout the day. As this belief grew stronger, people started avoiding him and even blamed him for their bad luck. Eventually, the townspeople took their complaint to the king.

The king, known for his wisdom and fairness, listened to his people but decided not to judge without verifying the truth himself. He made up his mind to test whether the man's face was truly unlucky.

The King’s Investigation and a Strange Coincidence

The king summoned the man to his palace and kept him there for the night. The next morning, the king deliberately looked at the man’s face first thing in the morning. Coincidentally, due to a busy schedule, the king was unable to eat his meals that day.

This unusual event made the king believe that the townspeople were right. Enraged, he called his executioner and commanded, "This unlucky man must be executed immediately!"

The Minister’s Argument and the King’s Dilemma

The royal court was shocked at the king’s harsh decision. The minister, known for his wisdom, stepped forward and respectfully questioned the king.

"Your Majesty, what crime has this man committed?"

The king replied, "Today, I saw his face first, and as a result, I could not eat anything all day. He is truly unlucky!"

The minister smiled thoughtfully and responded, "Your Majesty, please forgive me, but did this man not see your face first as well? You missed your meal, but he is receiving a death sentence after seeing your face. Now, who is more unlucky—him or you?"

Who is Unlucky—The Man or the Mindset?

The king was stunned by this argument. He had never considered the situation from this perspective. Was the man truly inauspicious, or was it just a matter of perception? Was fate really determined by someone's face, or was it merely a superstition that people blindly followed?

The minister further explained, "Your Majesty, no one is unlucky because of their face. A face is a creation of God, and it is neither good nor bad. What makes something unlucky is the way we think about it. No person is fortunate or unfortunate by birth; rather, it is our own actions that shape our destiny. I urge you to free this innocent man."

The King’s Realization and the Man’s Freedom

Realizing his mistake, the king immediately withdrew his order and freed the man. He also warned the people against believing in blind superstitions and baseless rumors.

From that day forward, a new lesson spread throughout the kingdom—one’s destiny is shaped by their actions, not by the face one sees in the morning.

Lessons from the Story

Avoid Superstitions – Never accept a belief without logical reasoning.

Self-Reflection Before Blaming Others – More often than not, our problems are caused by our own actions, not others.

Change Your Perspective, Change Your Life – There is no such thing as good or bad luck; it all depends on how we perceive situations.
