Rewriting the code of human acceptance

I wandered alone for a long time,

In a world of black and white.

I felt like a splash of color, not belonging.

🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

I was always pulled sideways towards the extremes,

Nobody seemed to get my stance on reality.

Their world was decisively distorted by preconceptions,

Frantic expectations of stuck beliefs, crude reliefs,

Perpetual illusions of stability in a time of improbability.

🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

Billboards, screens, pages flipped, all mixed and matched,

No space for my colorful complex and sensitive patch,

There was no shade to match my view of humanity.

🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

Then I saw them at a glance, just a flicker, a glimpse,

Offering a spark of hope and sense to my world.

On that store's rain-streaked window pane,

I was impressed by that personal shade, bold in technicolor,

Wearing my invisible pain, just to disappear behind the lane.

🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

I had no trust in the illusions of the sensorial overflow,

I must have been overtired, windblown and confused,

Wishful thinking was clouding my vision,

How could that reflection be my long wished hope,

I felt my heart racing, I couldn't breathe,

It was a story to be retold, reset in motion,

Proud to get out of my inner depression,

A narrative I'd lived but never told, because of fear.

🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

I felt how suddenly, my varied hues gained in dimension,

I had to tell, to show the world, to show my red cheeks,

My complexion was flustered, yet I mustered my curiosity.

I am valid, it was black and white, on the screen above,

I realized with a start that all colours are finally allowed.

🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

This was not a glitch anymore, the universe accepted my plan.

My feelings, once mismatched and judged were approved,

It was a great day for humanity, no more stinging shadows,

This was finally freedom, a gift for the future generations to grow.

🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

We are the new storytellers across the sky,

Painting shades and words for humanity's right

To become more complex, more daring to accept

All the different dreamweavers, no more bans,

This is now time to shout to the screens, the media can set us free,

I just don't know for how long will we be hidden,

Can we dare to show our real faces,

In this wondrous kaleidoscope of all races?

🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈🌈

Author's note: I tried to put myself in their shoes, to understand and illustrate the inner fight and hope to be accepted. All human beings are equally in the right to be diverse, wondrous, explosive in expression, as long as they don't judge or disturb the others' wellbeing.

Interesting. Well written! I can't say I fully agree with you tho... I think humanity has a tendency to take things way too far and having rules and regulations keeps them in line. Liberty is a beautiful thing but also very dangerous.
