Three Fat Women.

Big Dreams, Bigger Appetites.

By Aftab Ahmad KhanPublished 3 months ago 12 min read

One was Mrs. Richman and the other Mrs. Suttlef. One was a widow, the other had divorced two husbands. The third was Miss Hacken. She was still a virgin. All three were about forty years old. And the days of life were passing by merrily. Mrs. Suttlef's features were distorted by obesity. Her arms, shoulders, and hips seemed heavy. But even in her middle age she was still beautiful. She wore a blue dress only to make her eyes shine, and she maintained the beauty of her hair in artificial ways. She liked Mrs. Richman and Miss Hacken because they were both fatter than she was. And since she was slightly younger than them, she thought of her as her own daughter. This was not a bad thing. They were both cheerful. She often joked about her future fiancé. She herself was far from the entanglements of this love affair. But in this matter she had full sympathy with Mrs. Suttlef. She was sure that she would soon have a new flower.

She was looking for a good match for him. A retired admiral who could play the game of golf, or a scoundrel who was free from the hustle and bustle of the household. In any case, it was important that he had a reasonable income. She listened to them attentively and laughed heartily. There was no doubt that she wanted to experience marriage once again. But her temperament was different in choosing a husband. She wanted a dark-skinned Italian with extremely bright eyes, or a Spaniard from a noble family. And his age should not be more than a day over thirty.

It is true that all three were in love with each other. And the only reason for their love was their obesity. And their friendship grew deeper as they played bridge together. They first met in Basad, where they were staying in the same hotel and were being treated by a doctor. Mrs. Richman was also beautiful. Her piercing eyes, ruddy cheeks, and rosy lips were very attractive and charming. She was always worried about food and drink. Butter, bacon, potatoes, and fat pudding were her favorite foods. She ate plenty of coffee for eleven months of the year and then went to Basad for a month to lose weight through treatment. She was getting fatter day by day. She believed that life was useless if she did not get to eat as much as she wanted. But her doctors did not agree. Mrs. Richman thought that doctors were not capable of anything, otherwise it was strange that she had become a little thin. She mentioned this to Miss Hacken. She just laughed and fell silent. Her voice was very deep. And a flat face! Her eyes had such a cat's-eye sparkle. She preferred men's clothing. And her cheerful disposition alone had brought the three friends very close to each other. They all ate at the same time, went for walks together, and were never separated from each other even when playing tennis. There is no doubt that when they weighed themselves, they were saddened by the fact that they had lost twenty pounds through medical treatment and had gained the same weight again in a few days through poor diet, and at her request the three of them had left the cottage and gone away for a few weeks. Beers was weak and needed someone who could keep him from getting out of his way. She was sure that now he would have a good opportunity to exercise. Not only that, but having his own kitchen in the house would save him from eating fatty foods. And there was no reason why they should all lose weight in a few days. Mrs. Suttlef was making strange plans in her house. She was sure that her complexion would improve in a few days. And she would find herself some sly Italian, French or Englishman. The three of them ate boiled eggs and tomatoes only two days a week and got up every morning and weighed themselves. Mrs. Suttlef weighed only 154 pounds and she began to think of herself as a young girl. Mrs. Hacken and Mrs. Richman also had a considerable difference in their weight. All three of them looked content. But the need for a fourth player to play bridge made them somewhat worried.

Early in the morning, she was sitting on the platform wearing loose pajamas, drinking tea without mixing sugar with milk and was also eating biscuits prepared by Dr. Burt, who were guaranteed to be completely free of fat. During breakfast, Miss Hacken accidentally mentioned Lena. Who is that? Mrs. Sulf asked. She is the wife of my cousin, who died recently. She suffered from nerve breakdown in the past few days. Why not invite her here for two weeks?" "Does she know how to play bridge?" "Why not? There will be no need for anyone else if he comes here. The matter is settled. A wire was sent to call Lena and she arrived on the third day. Miss Hicken went to pick her up at the station. Due to the death of her husband, Lena's face showed signs of grief. Miss Hacken had not seen him for two years. That's why he kissed his mouth with great enthusiasm. "You are very thin," he said. Lena smiled. I was ill in the past few days. And now the weight has also decreased a lot. Miss Hacken let out a cold sigh, but could not show whether it was because of jealousy or sympathies with Lena. She took him to a full-fledged hotel. Where he was introduced to both friends. Seeing his backy, Mrs. Richman's heart was filled. And the yellowness of his face also impressed Mrs. Sulf. After some fun in the hotel, he went to his accommodation for lunch. I want some bread. These words of Lena fell on the ears of the friends. She had left him ten years ago, even though Mrs. Richman, even such a greedy woman, avoided bread. Mrs. Hacken asked Azrah Hospitality Khansaman to comply with the order immediately. "A little butter too." An invisible force gave all of them their lips. "Probably there is no butter in the house. Now I ask Khansaman. Miss Hicken replied with some pause. I like butter roti very much. Lena said addressing Mrs. Richman. And after taking bread from Khansaman, he applied butter on it with great satisfaction. Miss Hicken naive. “We are used to very simple food here. Leena said while applying butter on the piece of fish. "I am very satisfied as long as I get butter, roti, potatoes and balai." "Unfortunately, there is no upper place here. Mrs. Richman said. Oh. Lee said. Fat kebabs were chosen for lunch. Apart from this, there was spinach and also pears. As soon as he ate the pear, Leena looked at Khansaman with curious eyes and as soon as he got the signal, Khansaman came with khanda. He put three spoons of sugar in his cup of coffee. You like sugar very much. Mrs. Sulf said. "We like the screen more than we like," said Miss Hacken, putting a tikya in her cup. This is a delightful thing. Leena replied. Mrs. Richman looked at the khand with a frown and tempting eyes. Miss Hicken called him loudly and with a cold sigh, he also forced to lift the screen. After finishing lunch, he started playing bridge. Lena played well. Everyone enjoyed the game. Mrs. Sulf and Mrs. Richman had a deep sympathy for the distinguished guest. Miss Hacken's heart also felt bad. And she wanted Lena to live happily with them for two weeks. A few hours later, Miss Hicken and Mrs. Richman went to play golf, and Mrs. Sulf, a young man, went for a walk with the handsome Prince Roka. But she lay down with the thought of slowing down for a while. Everyone came back a little before dinner. "Lena, dear, tell me, how did the time pass?" Miss Hicken said. When playing the gaf, the attention was on you. "Oh, I've been lying on the bed with a big smile and go and drink the cocktail and listen." Today I saw a small coffee house. Where a great upper can also be found. I have arranged to order the house every day. "

Her eyes were shining and she was sure that the three of them would appreciate what she said.

“How nice you are, Lena,” said Mrs. Hacken. “But alas, we don’t like the high. It doesn’t suit us in this climate.”

“No, I’m healthy,” said Lena, smiling.

“Don’t you care about your appearance?” said Mrs. Sutliff, making a face.

“The doctor told me to eat high.”

“Did he prescribe butter, bread, potatoes, and all four?”

“Of course, that’s what I mean by your simple diet.”

“You’ll certainly get very fat.”

Lena laughed heartily. The three of them had been criticizing her for a long time after she had gone to bed that night. She had been so cheerful that evening, but now Mrs. Richman seemed rather bored. Mrs. Sutliff was sitting apart. And Miss Hacken was also in a bad mood.

“I absolutely cannot bear that he should eat my delicious food in front of my eyes,” Mrs. Richman said with a little bitterness.

“No one can bear that,” Miss Hacken replied.

“Why did you call him here at all...?”

“How did I know about it?”

“If she had had the slightest thought of her late husband, she would never have eaten to her full stomach... He has only been dead for two months.”

It’s a strange guest that she doesn’t like the food we like.’’

‘‘I heard, what was she saying yesterday? The doctor told her to eat butter, bread, potatoes and scallions.’’

‘‘Then she should go to a sanatorium.’’

‘‘She is your guest. We have nothing to do with her. I have been watching that gluttony’s spectacle for two weeks straight.’’

‘‘It is absurd to consider eating and drinking as the only purpose of life.’’

‘‘Are you calling me an idiot?’’ Mrs. Sutliff said.

‘‘What is the use of mutual suspicion?’’ Mrs. Richman interrupted.

‘‘I cannot bear you to sneak into the kitchen and eat and drink in our bed.’’

These words set Miss Hacken’s body on fire. She jumped up.

‘‘Mrs. Sutliff, control your tongue. Do you think I am that low? ‘’

’’Why don’t you lose weight?’’

’’That’s wrong, I’ve lost a lot of weight.’’

She started crying like a child. And tears started dripping from her eyes and falling on her chest.

’’Dear, you don’t understand what I mean...’’

Saying this, Mrs. Suttle bent down on her knees and tried to take her body in her arms. Her heart also filled with tears and tears flowed from her eyes.

’’So don’t I look thin?’’ Miss Hacken said while sobbing.

’’Yes, of course...’’ Mrs. Suttle replied in a choked voice.

Mrs. Richman, who was naturally very weak, also started crying now. The scene was very moving. Seeing Miss Hacken shedding tears would have made even the most hardened person wax. Finally they wiped their tears and each took a few sips of brandy and water. They now agreed that Lena should eat whatever food she liked, as per the doctor's instructions. After all, she was his guest. It was their duty to soothe her heart in every way. They kissed each other warmly and went to their respective bedrooms.

It is true that human nature is very weak and no one has any control over it. Now everyone had their own way in terms of food. When they started making fish kebabs, Lena's diet began to be based on butter and cheese. She used to eat boiled eggs and raw tomatoes twice a week. Lena used to eat them with peas mixed in. She had a taste for cooking tomatoes with different spices. Her cooking was also very tasty. He would prepare something better every time and choose it for the table. Lena also said this on one occasion. That the doctor had told her to have burgundy for lunch and champagne for dinner. These words made the three friends gasp. They had just been laughing. But suddenly the mood changed.

Mrs. Richman's complexion seemed to turn yellow. Mrs. Suttlef's blue eyes had a terrible gleam. And Miss Hacken's voice was hoarse. When they played bridge, they used to talk to each other in very gentle tones. But now things were getting worse. Lena explained to them a lot, explaining that arguing during the game was not appropriate. But it was pointless. She was happy that she had been the better player at the game from the beginning. And in the days that followed, she had won a large sum of money. The three fat friends now began to hate each other. They had become suspicious of their guest. Despite this, they often gossiped about each other. In front of Lena, they continued to flirt with each other, but then it didn't happen. She was so disappointed in each other that Miss Hacken went to the station to see Lena off. As they got into the car, she said.

"I have no words to thank you for your hospitality..."

"Your company has been very pleasant..." Miss Hacken replied.

When the carriage left, she sighed so loudly that the platform trembled under her feet. And she returned home, making a noise of "Uff, uff."

She put on her bathrobe and walked towards the hotel. She became restless. Before her eyes, Mrs. Richman was sitting, dressed in new pajamas and a string of pearls around her neck, and with makeup on. She moved towards her.

"What are you doing?"

Her words were heard like thunder between two mountains.

"I am eating something."

In front of her were butter, apple jam, coffee and semolina, etc. She was spreading a thick layer of butter on warm bread and pouring jam and semolina on it.

"You will give your life for the temptation to eat. ’’

‘‘No problem.’’ Mrs. Richman said, chewing a large bite.

‘‘You’ll get even fatter.’’

Just be quiet, God bless that wretch whom I’ve been watching for two weeks, shoving colorful morsels down my throat. A human being can’t digest that much.’’

Tears welled up in Miss Hacken’s eyes. She seemed completely lifeless. She probably needed a strong man to kneel down her and shake her. She sat down quietly on a chair nearby. The servant arrived. And he pointed to the coffee and asked for it. She stretched out her hand and started to pick up the cream roll. But Mrs. Richman put the saucer aside. Miss Hacken got angry and addressed her by a name that was not particularly appropriate for a woman… In the meantime, the servant brought her butter, jam, and coffee.

‘‘Forgot to bring the pudding.’’… She roared like a lioness.

She started eating and started stuffing butter and jam down her throat. Now the hotel was filled with a colorful crowd. Mrs. Suttlef also came out walking with Prince Roka Mir. She had wrapped a silk cloak tightly around herself. So that she would look a little thinner. She had raised her head to hide the defect of her chin. She was very happy... like a young lady. The Prince, taking her permission, went to the men's room to fix his hair for five minutes and she also came to the women's room to make her cheeks glow. Suddenly her eyes fell on her two friends and she stopped.

"You gluttonous beast..."

She sat down on the chair. And called out to the servant. Now the thought of the Prince had also left her mind. In the blink of an eye, the servant appeared.

“Bring me this for my dinner too.”

“And some for me…”

“Miss Hacken!…” Mrs. Richman called out.

“Quiet. “

Then I’ll eat this too.”

Coffee was brought, and cream rolls and toppings. She began to eat the toppings on the warm bread. Large spoonfuls of jam were thrust down her throat. She seemed to be eating with a special arrangement.

At such a time, Mrs. Suttlef’s attachment to the prince was meaningless.

“I haven’t eaten potatoes for twenty-five years,” Miss Hacken said in a low voice.

Mrs. Richman immediately ordered the servant to bring the roasted potatoes for the three of them.

A moment later the roasted potatoes were in front of them and they began to eat them with large spoons. The three friends looked at each other and sighed coldly. Now the misunderstanding between them had been cleared. And there was a great love in their hearts. They could not believe that they had been ready to part ways before today. The potatoes were gone now.

“There must be chocolate in the hotel,” said Mrs. Richman.

“Why not?”

A moment later Miss Hacken opened her mouth and was stuffing chocolate down her throat. She put her hand on the other. And before putting it in her mouth, she looked up at both friends and cursed the wicked Lena.

“Say what you like. But the fact is that she does not know how to play bridge.”

“Of course.” Mrs. Richman agreed.

Mrs. Richman’s mind was at that moment thinking of some delicious cake.
