The Story of Two Moons, a Stranger and a Lazy Afternoon

I took a break from writing, not that I need it, but to celebrate my best friend's birthday. My friend asks very little from me, except time.

The day after, being a Sunday and without my laptop, I decided to check out Grindr, an app for adult gay men looking for hookups and relationships. Still, I go there for the conversation and the occasional sex. Besides, I love hearing the story behind every gay man I meet online.

I met my last boyfriend on Grindr, and after doing a CNN interview about online dating and dating apps, my boyfriend ghosted me. People can't believe why it happened, yet I have learned to accept everything life offers.

The Songwriter

My persona on Grindr is the same as I am in real life. I don't pretend to be a different person, but now I have become confident about what I do. I now, with confidence, say I am a writer.

I read profiles.

On his profile, it says:

I said hi and said his profile is impressive.

He came asking me why I find it impressive?

I said You got me at …

"Songwriter."

I don't seek out stories, but I keep an open mind that whatever is happening in my life right now has a story and today is anything but different.

I would still flirt in between a serious conversation and told the songwriter that he is "the" why I opened Grindr today and that sex is optional.

He replied,

"If that's the case, that I'm your reason to open Grindr, then I guess I owe you a kiss."

I find words to be sexier than flat abs. But I'm not saying I wouldn't hook up with someone who, how can I say it nicely, an eye candy.

What is between his brains is sexier than what is in between his legs. And I can only say that's how things are with me. And the one I am talking to right now has more in between his brains that I no longer mind if I ever get to what is in between his pants.

As we talked, I asked for a sample of his work, and he gave me a link to his YouTube channel, and he said listen to this song, he calls it Two Moons -Lake Version.

I love the song, and I had to ask the story behind the song.

I find the story behind Two Moons as interesting as the guy I am talking to. So we decided to talk over the phone, for him to tell me the story of Two Moons.

The only detail I can share with you is that the song came after my songwriter met someone online. While they consider each other to be Facebook friends, it was only after they met in real life that they knew they would become real friends not only in the online world but in the real world, where there is the Sun, the Moon, and the Stars.

On the day they met each other, my songwriter felt that he sees a reflection of himself, that he is not alone, and his experiences, the good and the bad, are the same experiences his newfound friend had gone through.

After their meeting, he composed the song, which is short and has only 10 lines. Most people think it is a romantic song, but it wasn't intended.

I told him, but finding yourself is another love song because there is no greater love than loving yourself.

I am thankful that I took a break from writing, besides celebrating my best friend's birthday. Life has another surprise for me, meeting another consequential stranger, someone who I may or may not meet in real life, but for a brief moment,
