Shattered to Strength

I will not crumble

The crushing weight of anti-love you used against me

kept me down without a way to breathe

you found my weakest seams and pulled the strings

my life unraveled;

you knew how to hurt me

boxes and bags of bitterness, your betrayal stung.

~

What once was a union of two female hearts

sharing the bounty and fruit of our love-

you left me to rot, setting the cards in your favor

and laughed as I lost everything.

~

And I thank you.

~

as you beat me down, I rose up again

stronger than you, stronger than before-

a phoenix on fire-

and gained more than you ever imagined.

~

because of your seething childish tantrums

and your wish to rid yourself of anything mine,

I found the beautiful half of my broken soul

waiting for you to toss me aside, your garbage,

and a treasure walked into my life.

Kintsugi gold to repair my shattered heart.

~

her laughter keeps me warm;

her smile is my shield against

your vile indifference

my happiness would kill you

you opened my eyes to finally see

how your truth was not truth, but a lie

and discovered my treasure

makes me richer than kings.
