"A Chance Meeting at Lost and Found: The Love Story of Jen and Lisa"

The Love Story of Jen and Lisa

By Ndari WijayantiPublished 2 years ago 2 min read

It was a sunny Saturday morning, and Jen was sipping her coffee at the local café, Lost and Found, a spot she loved for its mismatched furniture and cozy vibes. She had her laptop open, pretending to work, but really, she was people-watching. The café was buzzing with its usual weekend crowd, but one person stood out.

She was sitting by the window, sunlight catching in her curly hair, reading a book that looked like it weighed a ton. Jen couldn’t help but steal glances every now and then. There was something about her that was just... intriguing.

Jen had never been one to make the first move, but her friends had been bugging her for ages to be more adventurous. And maybe today was the day. She gathered her courage, took a deep breath, and walked over.

“Hey, is this seat taken?” Jen asked, pointing to the chair across from the woman.

She looked up, smiled warmly, and said, “Nope, go ahead.” Her voice was soft, almost melodic.

Jen sat down, feeling her heart race a little. “I’m Jen, by the way. I couldn't help but notice you’ve been engrossed in that book. What are you reading?”

“Oh, this? It’s ‘The Goldfinch’ by Donna Tartt. I’m Lisa,” she said, extending her hand.

Jen shook it, feeling a spark. “Nice to meet you, Lisa. I’ve heard good things about that book. How is it?”

“It’s amazing, though a bit heavy. But I love getting lost in a good story.” Lisa’s eyes twinkled as she spoke, and Jen found herself getting lost in them.

They ended up chatting for hours, discovering they had so much in common. Both loved hiking, had a not-so-secret obsession with cheesy 80s movies, and shared a love for trying out new recipes. The conversation flowed effortlessly, and by the end of it, Jen felt like she’d known Lisa forever.

“I’m really glad I came over,” Jen said as they were getting ready to leave. “Would you like to grab dinner sometime?”

Lisa smiled. “I’d love that.”

They exchanged numbers and went their separate ways, but Jen couldn’t stop smiling all the way home. It felt like the start of something special.

And it was. Dinner turned into more dinners, hikes, movie nights, and countless hours spent together. They fell for each other, slowly but surely, finding comfort and joy in each other’s company. It wasn’t always perfect, but it was real, and that’s what made it beautiful.

In the end, Jen realized that sometimes, taking a chance and stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to the most amazing experiences. And for her, it led to Lisa – the girl who loved heavy books and had a heart of gold.
