Memories with Zuri
I stir with memory, I cook with grace
A dash of rhythm, a slow embrace
Sweetie’s blinking, setting time
This pot holds stories, yours, and mine
We serve sweet soul stew
With echoes in the brew
Cornbread dreams and healing beans
Every bite pulls spirits through.
Yams for longing, okra for light
Greens for tears that healed our fight
Sweetie’s perched, the rhythm’s deep
As grandpa’s voice begins to speak.
We serve sweet soul stew
With echoes in the brew
Fried love and peppered grace
Each plate a prayer in warm embrace.
Zuri, hums by the window light
Her feathers catch the shades of night
She blinks twice, the portal hums
Souls arrive, the kitchen drums.
We serve sweet soul stew
The music makes it true
Past and future in each taste
Zuri’s love won’t go to waste.
