I wish I had said it before.

I didn’t tell them I’m trans that day,

When people speak ill of others.

It was stupid of me that way,

But I do not stand up for my brothers.

They spoke of how disgusting they were,

How bad and immoral.

Part of me was hidden there,

Pretending to be ‘normal’.

________________________

Fear smothered my want for community,

My need for connection.

It triggered something in me,

Making me not want attention.
