Within the Mind

Almost there

Buried in the shadows

Cast by the ruined mind.

Death recalls a memory

Echoing inside of the

Furthest chasm that keeps

Growing.

Hurry before he catches you

Inside the sacred place whose

Journey required peace.

Keep still and

Listen for the

Monster’s heavy step.

Never stray

Off of the given

Path.

Question the broken thing

Resting in the corner too

Scared to show its face.

Take nothing that lies

Under the darkened

Vault and

Wonder not about the

Xanthosis that grows within

Your mind keeping you from your

Zenith.

This has a nice rhythm and rhyme scheme. The picture goes well with the poem and I thoroughly enjoyed the emotion portrayed as well as the otherworldly feeling I got while reading it.

I loved your flow and wording! This was almost reminiscent of a Poe-like atmosphere for me!
