Your hair is a fiery flame

I tell stories of our past

and wrap your hair

around my hands

I sit through the burn, the pain

Of having lost my dearest friend

No, nothing was the same

When I left you on that day

You still walk alive

burning with desire

A wife you have been made

And I watch from the screen

Such a loss it has been

I never had a friend like you again

For every friend I ever made

burned in your hair,

A fiery flame

Like smoke and forgotten memories

I had hoped through the years

You'd still be a friend of me

Though, you could never be an enemy

I fear we have lost

All there was platonically

A gray area in the ashes

As if I have been waiting

for the passion to rise

maybe it was one sided

I've learned to carry on

holding all of the weight

Maybe it is time to set it aside

In your hair

A fiery flame.

Well-wrought! So many people come and go in our lives, but there are always those few who leave us gasping for air.
