Young ladies on the rise

Here we are black, strong, beautiful Young Ladies on the Rise.

Living in a world where your looks overpower how wise.

Thoughts of school, fitting in and being fly

over throw the passion of being smart , being successful , and living life.

Where the words we speak slowly climb through one's mind to one another and make its way to the heart.

Being together as one doesn't feel right so we'd rather be apart .

Where people talk about change but don't bring upon any.

Where people are sick of seeing homeless people on the street but won't donate not one penny.

But as cold hearted , dark and hopeless as this generation seems ;

we as young girls can make the dark shine bright with our supportive light beams.

Lift each other up when we are down and need determination.

Do what we can to make this generation better not as a community but as a nation.

Cause believe or not we are smarter than what they say and what they think .

But it's gonna take time. Everything isn't solved in just a blink .

convince our brothers that being in school doesn't make you lame.

And being you is better than fitting in and trying to be the same .

Be that good role model for your younger kin and teach them the truth and not the lies.

And stay woke to our surroundings and be smart because we are Young Ladies on the Rise.
