You

a fictional short story poem by Mel

By 'Lissa StufflestreetPublished 4 years ago 1 min read

You.

It was always you.

Your smile,

the way your eyes twinkle when you're happy;

that always managed to fill me with such glee.

It was always you.

You were the one I saw

a future with.

You.

I never expected for you to rip out our happily ever after ending

and throw it away.

It was you.

It was always you.

You were the one who always knew how to make me

the happiest girl in the world

You.

Why would you destroy that feeling?

Why would you all of a sudden just say goodbye to the one

thing that loved you unconditionally?

Why would you give up on the one thing that mattered

for a nothingness that lasted two seconds?

It was you.

It was always you.

Love.

Heartbreak.

Love.

Heartbreak.

You flipped the switch so many times that,

eventually,

my heart just stopped;

the feeling just,

incinerated into nothing.

It was you.

It was always you.
