You Without Me

A Poem

By Angel AdagioPublished about a year ago 1 min read

You chose a path that didn't lead to me,

was that always what you wanted; anything but me?

You don't want me, but don't want me with anybody other than you,

why not just keep me for yourself?

Forget your friends who want you to be cool, I know who you are without them,

without the world telling you who they want you to be and who you need to be.

Behind closed doors,

I know you are afraid of the dark, but pretend you are fearless.

I know that the ocean terrifies, but space excites all because of your father.

I know you have love, but you can't show it.

How am I supposed to let go of someone who showed me their heart,

broken, scarred and all,

and I did the same.

In reality,

nobody will really know you but me,

and that is a world you will have to live in, one without me.
