You Were Never Meant to Compete

A Soulful Reminder That Your Worth Isn't Measured by Comparison, But by Authenticity

By Fawad aliPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

In a world where we're constantly told to be more, do more, and compare ourselves to everyone around us, it's easy to forget that we each carry a light no one else can replicate. I wrote this poem as a reminder—for myself and for you—that we are not here to compete. We are here to be, to grow in our own way, and to bring something uniquely beautiful into the world. I hope these words bring you back to that truth

They told you to run,
To chase the light already caught by others.
To measure yourself in inches, likes, and timelines
That were never yours to begin with.

But you—
You were carved from wonder, not from rankings.
You bloom on your own calendar,
Your petals soft with patience,
Your roots deep in quiet strength.

You were never meant to compete.
You were meant to contribute.
To lift, not to outshine.
To shape a space so unique
The world had to pause just to take it in.

No one else carries your voice,
No mirror can reflect your journey,
No crowd can dim your spark
That was placed, deliberately,
Where only you could hold it.

So stop comparing.
Start becoming.
Even your scars sing a story
Someone else has waited to hear.

And if the world grows loud,
If you forget your rhythm,
Come back—
To stillness, to breath,
To the knowing
That you are enough.
