You Wear It Well

Haiku

By Colleen WaltersPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Crying an ocean

to sink heartbreak yet again,

over and over.

—-

Showtime! wear the smile

like a true professional,

You’re quite good at it.

—-

So happy. They ask

“ what’s your secret?” And you smile.

Professionally.

—-

They won’t understand

the battle, or the frontline

skirmishes unseen.

—-

Gifted and drafted

into His Army, for this one.

It rages on. Just smile…

“For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.”

‭‭Ephesians‬ ‭6‬:‭12

    Beautiful Haiku poem

Amazing Haiku poem. We, in our Sindhi Language write haiku in a bit different format. Like: "Tiny Rain drop Smile like toddler My finger top" Rhyming in first and last line. I don't know the meter of English language but instinctively fell, it is close to 5-7-5 syllables.

  • This is so beautiful: “Crying an ocean to sink heartbreak yet again, over and over.” Excellent Bible verse & quip at the end. Thankfully, God holds us with a monkey grip… when we let go, He still holds onto us!💛

Sometimes we must conceal our pain while projecting happiness and composure to others. I loved your haiku.

This is really powerful to think about how all the times we almost gave up but God helped remind us not to give up, and we pressed on in life and here we are now.
