Usually when I say

"You're not helping matters",

It's probaly me

who's in many tatters.

*

I know you're trying

to be of assistance,

but right now the pressure

is of too much persistance.

*

So don't be insulted

when i brush you away.

It's just that I'm far

too stressed today.

*

I promise that tomorrow

I'll be a better child.

I'll learn to behave

when my life's gone wild.

*

It's not your fault

that your words are in vain.

It's only because

my ears are painted pain.

*

Perhaps in January

I will remember

Your beautiful words

You'd said in Decmber.

*

And the warmth of it all

will set my heart aglow.

And the days zooming past

will stop and slow.

*

And then I'll have the strength

to climb many latters.

And then your kind words

will be helping matters.
