You Don’t Own Me
You don’t own me, I’m not your prize,
Not some jewel behind your eyes.
No chains can bind, no leash can hold,
I walk with fire, fierce and bold.
I am woman, wild and true,
Not a shadow cast by you.
My voice is mine, it rings out clear,
Not silenced by your grip of fear.
You built these walls to keep me in,
Called it love, but it’s a sin.
Caged by lies and bound by doubt,
Watch me rise and break right out.
I am free, my soul, my own,
Not a relic, not your throne.
No man, no vow, no whispered plea,
Can steal the fire inside of me.
Open this lock, unbind my chains,
Let me dance through wind and rain.
No hands will shape or own my fate,
I stand alone, fierce and great.
Set me free, I take my flight,
Wings spread wide into the night.
No master’s claim, no tethered past,
I am woman, free at last.

I've been writing poetry since the age of fourteen. With pen in hand, I wander through realms unseen. The pen holds power; ink reveals hidden thoughts. A poet may speak truth or weave a tale. You decide. Let pen and ink capture your mind❤️
