You didn't care

A nightmare woven into a dream

Classroom flooding,

Tropical fish swimming between my legs,

A crocodile snapping at me with powerful jaws,

But you didn't care.

Running and running,

Yet moving so slowly across the field,

And falling to one side with black dots in my eyes,

But you didn't care.

Soaring through clouds,

Chased by a roaring dragon,

Flames clawing at my burning wings,

But you didn't care.

Electric chair,

On wheels with whipping wires,

Chasing me down a white hospital corridor,

But you didn't care.

Inexplicable pain,

Ripping through my heart,

Tears streaming from agonised eyes,

But you didn't care.

No matter the content,

Whether exciting, or peaceful, or a horrific nightmare,

The worst part will always be those times,

When I dreamt you didn't care.
