A RubyRed Original Poem

i peer into the shining bath

gaping deep into what i've lost.

how do i feel it again?

do i reach?

should i?

what am i allowed to feel with this,

when i see her glimmering face

and all her laughter.

is it the ripples that make me shiver?

i scan her glowing irises

tilting my chin high above my smoking footsteps.

it's quiet, all of a sudden, the music back to scales.

and then her light catches my eye,

she's different yet there's familiarity,

almost family,

in the deepness of her twinkling.

i listen to the patter of all i know,

spare a flicker to feel what i was searching for.

then unclasp the knot of her hollow umbrellas

watching them pop among pelicans and angels

ignoring the string plaited round my burning ankles

and the shallow reasons to follow them.
