You are the bomb

at the center of my life

By Emily McGuffPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

A tinge of burning

Crawling up me

I crave it when you’re gone

-

I’ve always loved the smell of your cologne

Wrapped up woods and sweat

I crave it when you’re gone

-

The ticking grows louder

Tick Tick Tick Tick

Fire in my core

-

You are the bomb

At the center of my life

And I’m searching for a match

-

I’ve always craved fire, flames

Licking my feet

And loving the taste

-

The promise of you alights me

A blaze within my stomach

-

I’ve always craved the flames

The spritely dance

All else is fodder

-

The promise of you burns me up

-

The seconds tick faster

Tick Tick Tick Tick

Flares before my eyes

-

You are the bomb

At the center of my life

And I’m searching for a match

Incredible work. I like the very direct nature of it. Your poem gets to the point, grabs the reader, and draws them in.
