You and Your Curls

Dedicated to my High School Crush

You and Your Curls

we were eighteen, wild, stupid, and free

strolling streets in simple glee

boba tea and ice-creams … in our hands

kit-kat shared, like secret bands

nights were endless, chat-filled streams

school mornings blurred by sleepless dreams

dark circles told a silent tale

but no one knew, cause we hid it well

your curls, a dance in morning light

your laugh, a melody, pure delight

you were the warmth in winter's chill

was in love with your eyes, curls and the way you breathe

but oh, the jealousy that did rise

when others claimed your cheerful eyes

perhaps I never spoke, I never dared

my heart was weak, and, my soul was too scared

high school was over, time moved fast

Conversations was fading, it could not last

what you felt, I'll never know

my desire unfulfilled, a seed that didn’t grow

maybe I was too young, too shy

to hold you close, to even try

but in my heart, your light remains

a love unspoken, but not in vain

just a reminder: still in love with you and your curls…
