You A Trigger

Not Calm Down

You A Trigger

A trigger on a gun never tells it to calm down

It fires it

I tell you my thoughts

And get told to calm down

Its not that I am too emotional

It's that my thoughts are too mature for you to understand

It's that I can express my feelings

And you wished you can

My kindness and careness offend you

So calm down is all you can think to say

Save that fake confusion

There is only so much disrespect a person can take

You don't deserve me

Not even as a friend

I am not a fan

You are the trigger that makes me shoot

Shoots some sense into you

But now I choose to protect my peace

Not calm down

This relationship has to ceases

People like to act as if their input has no bearing on the result. Great poem, congrats on top story.

  • ‘Calm Down’ can be so patronizing. There’s sometimes just too many triggers in one relationship, right! Cool poem, congrats on your Top Story award. 🥰

A perfect metaphor for a narcissistic relationship that is finally broken. I loved it, Emily!

This is really strong and real, feels like finally standing up for yourself and choosing peace. Loved the honesty in it.
