Yo-Yo

Poems from the ol’ vault

By K FPublished about a year ago 1 min read

In your presence, I am a yo-yo,

spinning on a string, drawn close, then flung away.

Your touch, a fleeting warmth, like the sun breaking through clouds,

only to be swallowed by the shadows of your retreat.

You are the architect of your own downfall,

building walls where bridges should stand.

I am left in the ruins, trying to decipher the blueprints of your heart,

torn between the desire to stay and the need to flee.

In this dance of uncertainty, I am a marionette,

pulled by invisible strings of hope and doubt,

wondering if the next step will bring us closer,

or if the thread will snap, leaving me to fall.

Good visual and really something I've felt before.

You made the yo-yo a very good metaphor. Great poem.
