The Way I Remember It

Picking Flowers on a Spring Day

Warm Cinnamon Buns fresh out of the oven

Skinned knees while learning to ride a bike

Playing Mario wearing my cowgirl hats and boots

Dancing in the living room in my ballerina dress

Doing homework while listening to afternoon talk shows

Decorating the Christmas tree Thanksgiving night

Laughter around the kitchen table

Food fights with salad

Summer road trips that introduced me to new experiences

Helping my grandpa take care of the animals on their farm

Laying on the red living room carpet gazing up at the ceiling fan

While watching it spin, I dreamed of the future

What my life would be like

A youthful heart that believed in the impossible

Years pass, I've grown older

Life and its chaos have become all too familiar

But that youthful heart, its still in me

The pain that I went through made me stronger

The dreams that I had, that I still have

Keep me believing that anything is possible

With time, faith, and determination

Dreams and hope are forever

And the memories go with me through life

Of the way I remember it to be
