Yesterday

Feels just like yesterday

They placed you in my arms

A mighty yet so fragile one

Graced with gentle charm

When your eyes met mine

A look of non other

Love defined that day

Only felt by a mother

For I was just so young

Scared and unsure

Of any mistakes I made

Would last through the years

Times when I stumbled

Along the way I fell

Far from being perfect

I’ll be the first to tell

Questioned my own sanity

You brought me to my knees

At times I drove you crazy

Just by being me

Days I thought would never end

While others flew by fast

Time has its way

Of never giving back

Now you’re grown and gone

No longer in my arms

No more piggyback rides

Or playing on the farm

There are so many days

I wish I could go back

It took me growing older

To realize what I lacked

Tears fill up my eyes

When I think about our years

Through the ups and downs

I’ve always held you dear

Memories suspended in time

I cling to everyday

Blessed with two angels

Helped to guide my way

You see my life forever changed

The day that you were born

A gift from up above

To cherish evermore

Every breath I take

Will always be for you

I’ll use my very last

To whisper I love you

love poems
