Yes, Lord

A poem

By Hannah LambertPublished about a month ago 1 min read

If You call me in the quiet,

or You thunder through the storm,

I will step where You are leading,

Even if the path is far from warm.

Even if the road is rugged

and my tears begin to pour—

even if it costs me comfort,

still my answer’s, “Yes, Lord.”

If You ask me to be faithful

when the crowd walks out on me,

I will stand within Your presence,

that’s where I’m meant to be.

Even if I lose the friendships

that my heart once fought hard for—

even if it leaves me lonely,

still my answer’s, “Yes, Lord.”

If You pull me through the places

that expose my deepest scars,

I will trust that You are healing

every shadow in my heart.

Even if the work is messy

and I’m shaken to the core—

even if I break while walking,

still my answer’s, “Yes, Lord.”

If You place me on a mountain,

or You lay me in the valley below,

I will praise You in the shifting,

I will follow where You go.

Even if I’m pushed or doubted,

You are my reward—

even if I stand there trembling,

still my answer’s, “Yes, Lord.”

So whatever You have chosen

for the journey of all my days,

I will give my life completely

to Your mercy and Your ways.

Even if the world grows heavy,

I will serve You more and more—

even if, and even always,

still my answer’s, “Yes, Lord.”
