Preparing to Go, Choosing What Stays

Flashes of time

tick by,

while aging

is called life at its finest.

Finding new meaning

to what this all really means

only feels relevant

when we focus

on how it ends.

Deciphering a message

to tell those who matter

how sorry you are

about your absence—

feels almost laughable.

Giving pieces

of your belongings

to whoever you choose

is difficult—

especially when you never imagined

your new life

in paradise.

A lifeless body

becomes an inspired spirit,

driving the soul

toward its permanent location.

Jotting down

the first of last words

sounds unimaginable—

until it isn’t.

The need to spread

your hard-earned work on earth

for coming generations

is key

to the one driven by change.

Give your worth—

so you can become

worth it.

And that worth

becomes

the reason

for your remembrance.

The last moments

are exhilarating.

But the legacy

created by you

is timeless.
