Writing in The Dark

Lights out

The Beginning, and New Beginning, Photo by Keith McHugh

Sitting in the darkness,

Wishing I was dead.

A pen and no light,

I empty my head.

Trapped inside,

A place I dread,

Facing my fears,

I can't think straight.

Full speed ahead,

It can not wait.

I need to stop the hate,

Boiling inside of me.

Please set me free,

My sight eludes me,

Where's the Light?

This isn't right,

Giving all my might.

I keep finding,

It's not worth the fight.

Spare me from my fright,

Let me graduate tonight.

Spread my wings,

Taking flight.

Gaining the power,

To smite false light.

At least be able to,

Do something right.

Until then I'll write,

The Dark seeking Light.

Escape from within,

Shattered remains.

This container,

a self made prison.

Where I AM the one,

Holding the chains.
