Writing Away Your Memory

My words scrawl across the page,
bleeding from a feather quill.
The lines are a fracture against
the parchment; cracked lines
reminiscent of the etched markings
left inside my beating chest,
lingering evidence of a visit
by the Joker of Hearts
who masqueraded as the Queen.
With no ace up my sleeve,
I was forced to fold my hand.
Oh, if it had only been
crow that I was forced to eat.
So, here I sit by
the light
of a flickering candle,
casting shadows and doubts
on every word that tumbles
from my maudlin mind
to my still quaking hands.

This is brilliant. 'The lines are a fracture against the parchment' Was probably my favourite part but the whole thing was incredibly written.
I really get a sense that this man is not coming out of this situation well.
What an interesting read. Very well done!
That was a quick turnaround for something this good
“Crow that I was forced to eat” will stay with me for a long time. Powerful poem, Randy!
