Worthy Cause

Not many people have them.....

By Shannon FeltnerPublished 8 months ago 1 min read

It was the

last thing

that was seen

He knew this

to be true

What could it

mean?

Was everything all

done in vain?

Was this the

truth he fought

and died for?

It was so vague

and indecipherable

He could not

comprehend it

Life was flashing

before his eyes

Any second now,

it would stop

All he had

left for it,

a meaningless

symbol

No kind words

spoken

No soft pat

on the back

No Valkyries

come to take

him into the

heavens above

Fighting for his

last breath,

he reached out

Grasping nothing,

he sighed, cried

and eventually

cursing himself

Foolishness was

what he died for

Yet he could

not imagine

a better reason

Nothing more,

no worthy cause

Everything was

worth nothing

but this symbol

This sign of

hope, this sign

that heralds the

future

Suddenly, it was

worth everything
