Working Retail

A nightmare within

Working that 9-5 shift five days a week.

Putting your nose to the grind to make that money.

Driving to the same place day in and day out.

Dealing with a variety of customers and their needs.

Encountering the same ones who don't have a life, but to shop every day.

A whole different personality takes over as soon as you cross the threshold.

With the artificial sunlight giving false hope of time passing by.

The dreary old music station the play on repeat.

Each day of the week representing that genre of music for the day.

Dealing with multiple managers who uphold different values.

Working myself to the bone for little pay without incentives.

Four years in the same place with many passing faces.

Coming and going from the most toxic place to be in.

Wanting to be finally set free and not remain the rest of my days in purgatory.
