Words

A poem

Words are so small, seemingly insignificant

Made of vowels and consonants

A simple breath of air

Coming out of your lips

Like flowers or bullets

Like warm embraces or harsh slaps

They are so powerful and motivating

Giving you purpose and energy

Inspiring you to live with integrity

One moment, you are flying

The next, you are burning

In the painful fire of hurtful words

They are so tiny, but deadly

Cutting deep inside your brain

Piercing your heart

Setting ablaze your soul

Slashing your skin

Twisting your insides

Words can make you

Words can break you

Be careful with the words you tell others

But with the ones you tell yourself especially

For they are our tools

To manifest our reality

They are our method of communication

They spread our love and our emotions

They let us connect to people in solidarity

They let us express our creativity

They give us an identity

They allow us to heal and feel

Words are everything

For they surround us constantly

Invisible and weightless

They seem of no consequence

Yet we constantly use them to create our destiny

For they carry so much history

They can raise crowds

Inspire whole nations

They can create wars

They can break down walls

They can bring peace

They can save lives

We fail to realize their ability

How life-changing they can be

They are the seeds planted in our souls

The flowers of our minds

The blossoming of our thoughts

The fruits of our knowledge

Choose your words carefully

With kindness and sincerity

Spread love and positivity

Speak words of empathy

Let your words be

Your best legacy
