Words and Worlds

When things feel dark, stories provide light.

Pages slip through fingers,

Sunshine warm dust wafts,

Delicate, soft, inviting.

Paragraphs unfold under soft caress,

Weaving together,

Worlds, people, stories.

Characters beckon,

Inviting me, calling me,

To escape, to imagine, to dream.

I dissolve, immersing myself,

The adventures envelop me,

Inspiring, infuriating, heartbreaking.

In chaos or distress,

A deep breath and a story,

Bring order and calm.

When the world makes no sense,

Words do.

When I feel lonely,

Books offer companions.

When my dreams feel impossible,

Stories provide hope.

When emotions overwhelm me,

The pages channel them.

When I feel misunderstood,

Characters always listen.

When I want to run,

There are worlds waiting.

I open the book,

Musty and warm like stale vanilla.

An old friend.

A companion.

Steady, reliable, comforting.

Thumbing through crisp pages,

Words and worlds reach out,

Welcoming me.

I breathe deep and dive in.
