A Poem

Eyes that can see,

Should never look away,

From the acts of now,

Foretold by yesterday.

Ears that are open,

Should never go deaf,

To those calling help,

Only to be left.

Hearts that beat,

Should never be still,

Around the wild,

Closing for the kill.

Hands that can work,

Should never be idle,

As women are robbed,

Of what is vital.

Legs that can stand,

Should never bend,

To those who attack,

Those who can’t defend.

Mouths that can speak,

Should never go dumb,

For those who shout,

Are callous and numb.

Heads that think,

Should never ignore,

The deeds they’ll do,

The same from before.

You who are here,

Should never regret,

Your chance to ensure,

That we never forget.
