Without The Possibility Of Failure
Would we really be so blessed?
Let’s dream a little here, shall we
Dream of a world without failure,
A place of success and happiness
A utopia where we are all blessed.
***
We’d be living on an all natural high
Everything we attempt, we succeed,
Never knowing a failure in any way
It’d be fabulous, don’t you agree?
***
But wait, how would you know
If failure was never a possibility,
Would you know you’re a success
Not with any real credibility.
***
You need the ups and downs of life
To fully appreciate the good times,
If life is only success, an even keel
We’d be trapped in its strict confines.
***
Without each of the polar opposites
Life would become less meaningful,
Without failure, what is a success
How would we measure our progress?

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
