Within the Storm

Look Me in the Eyes

Silence screams when you’re both there,

In the hallway, the bedroom, the kitchen, and thin air…

Lover’s… they quarrel; but has the love been lost?

Every word hangs unspoken, waiting like a tear to drop, drop, drop,

No one says anything but the chaos is there, thundering and storming while memories crumble down,

Crushing and hurting and painfully aware of the love that’s being misremembered because life is not happening the way either one of you imagined,

End is near but you still want to be saved so you stare into his eyes and you don’t say a word and you wait, you wait, you wait for him to hear you and for you to hear each other like you use to — like you use to — when it all seemed impossible — and then all the sudden possible — when the backdrop backed away and it was just the two of you against the world and the world didn’t matter, didn’t matter, didn’t matter, because the both of you — together — did.
