I heard your voice before I saw your face, and I knew that I was home
The night sky in your eyes, the rolling thunder of your words
I knew I would wait to come home
Treading the darkened streets at the brink of dawn for a chance to hear your song
Every single night I would come home
My ear to your chest, slumbered by the rhythm of your heart
In your arms, by your soul, I was home
Your eyes on me as I bare my flesh, the hands I trust reaching deep for a place you call home
Then the fury of that voice, covering my ears, tortured streams cooling the heat of my face
I had to runaway from home
Inside my chest was a bottomless black pit
What happened to my home?
The walls are caving in, it’s too dark to see and I can’t find my way home
Hands shaking, I can’t breathe and I am about to lose my home
It was silent there though in the fog of the garden when I turned to the pale face of the moon
I was never home
I am my home
