Wishes and Silence
An emotional story of silent love, where the love was complete, but there was a lack of words to express it.

My beloved, I was left without you,
I wished to see you happy,
That’s why I drifted away from you.
I couldn’t speak my love aloud,
And so, in your eyes, I became aloof.
You too knew the state of my heart,
But when you asked,
I remained silent.
Had I spoken in words, it wouldn’t have been love,
If you couldn’t feel what I truly felt,
How could I have explained with words,
That’s why I also said,
I never loved you.
Then we smiled together,
Hiding our feelings in such a way,
You can’t imagine the smile I wore,
Which adorned my eyes with tears,
When one pearl was slipping away from us.
How difficult it was to hold both pearls,
One that was leaving my eyes,
And the other that was slipping from my heart.
I couldn’t call out to her, even when I longed to.
I wished to turn and look, but couldn’t.
In a moment, she was lost to me,
Or perhaps she grew closer to my heart.
Now her memories have built a home inside me,
Now the pain of those memories is my solace,
The one I couldn’t have,
Is the one by whose name I became known.
