I wish I was a plant

By Lauren Ward for 'Colour is Pride: True Colours'

Waitress, 22, student: the cusp of being a sad adult.

A plant mum; my hair's green- looks like I'm part of a cult.

My mum sighs "you're not a child anymore"

other mums laugh "you'd think i'm a bore"

My boss said "luckily there's antidiscriminatory laws"

he'd fire me but "the pigtails are cute".

"St Patrick's day's past!", "you've been in the pool too long!" -My God, randos are so funny.

I sit in the chair, and dye back my hair

until society tastes like raw honey
