Wisdom from a Time Traveler

I was walking through the park

as I'm prone to do

When I came across this older gentleman sitting

on a park bench

And for the life of me, he reminded me of an older version

of someone that I couldn't quite place

Then it struck me

he looked like Keanu Reeves at one-hundred-plus

So I sat down and struck up a conversation

about nothing in particular

Finally, I asked for a piece of wisdom

he had learned in his long life

He said, subtlety does not work on drunks

and people can be drunk on more than just booze

Afterward, as I walked along, I realized

how right he was with his simple observation

And I also realized that it probably had been

Keanu Reeves traveling back in time

And sitting on a park bench,

as he is prone to do.
