Winter White

Musings of a Canadian girl

Painted scene on my eyelids,

all blended together

white.

Bundled in a parka, hat, and gloves,

boots to tread along.

Where the untouched snow

meets the rising sun

and sparkles,

white.

Warm breath on cold air

puffing like a dragon.

Here, muted, are the day sounds

of cars whizzing by

and the track markings

I follow

down quiet suburban streets,

where the glare from the sky

explodes on 'lawns'.

Sleeping trees adorned with fluff,

sweet sap flowing still

reaching over me,

creaking with the breeze.

On the front porch

boots stamped and I sigh,

thank the air

for turning my cheeks rosy.

Step into the warm house

and close the door on all the

winter white.

Absolutely beautiful writing! I also love winter weather, so calming and refreshing. Loved the style of this poem with the punctuations of 'white' throughout. Amazing!
