Winter Solstice Night

A light in the dark

By Kayla WrightPublished about a month ago 1 min read

The winter solstice has a sharp cold,

And a dull light

The winter solstice, where not even the stars

shine bright

The longest darkness

The shortest day

The start of the winter

The warm months away

It’s on this night

We light the last flame of the year

To celebrate our present, our future,

And the past we hold dear

We gather together

To make our own light

To bring warmth to the darkness

Of the longest winter night

We huddle close

warm our hearts, souls, and minds

As own light grows

no one is left behind

With each flame we light

For brightness, a wish, a memory

For the year to come

And who we will grow to be

Family
