Winter’s song is strong in my heart.
It’s quiet melody seldom appreciated, plays on regardless.
Even the wind plays differently than it usually does, dry and cold it forces me to turn inward with my thoughts.
I focus to stay in the present with them, even though the season is the season of remembrance.
I listen intently to the familiar sound of my footsteps crunching the snow. Giving a release, a surrendering of sorts, to what the song is telling me. “Listen” it says, and I do.
When winter’s song grows loud, as it sometimes does, we allow ourselves to withdraw, we allow ourselves to take a step back, to let go the tension that envelops our daily lives.
As in all things, I can learn to love this season. Though it tests me sometimes.

Really just an amateur trying my hand at this.
