Winter's Lace
A Prelude
Creep!
Creep!
With silent steps
of hoary frost
and puffing breath
comes mad-capped Jack -
His frozen facets
flung far afield,
a glitt'ring blanket
of crystal yield -
Awake!
Awake!
He calls crisp and clear
to rosy-fingered dawn
who chases the silvered moon
from the velveted heavens
and snuffs the Samhain fire
'til the Great Wheel
revolves its spokes once more-
Peep!
Peep!
He sends his scarlet spies
through silhouettes of skeletal trees,
a mummer's mimic of midwinter's sun
fiery promise of Yule-warmed hearth
where we shall lay our offerings -
crimson-berried holly, spruce and fir,
evergreen and ever-glowing
like the softness of the frosted morn
bedecked in her finest lace.

I too could almost hear this poem like a song,- evergreen and ever glowing. Absolutely beautiful. Nicely Done!!
A very musical poem - I could almost hear this as a song, with the repeated words shouted out as the chorus. Really fun!
Impressive work, Congratulations, Sara! I could highlight the entire poem, but I especially loved this part: "He sends his scarlet spies through silhouettes of skeletal trees, a mummer's mimic of midwinter's sun"
Congratulations 🥳… I love Frost’s personification, especially: “ Peep! Peep! He sends his scarlet spies through silhouettes of skeletal trees,” & Creep… & Awake!✅
Wooohooooo congratulations on your win! 🎉💖🎊🎉💖🎊
Congratulations Sara!
