My restless heart doth wake me from my sleep, Wherefore art my love, on this frigid night? My dreams disturbed, I rise, my eyes do weep, Why is my soul yearning for yours tonight?

The midnight moon shines bright against the snow, I look out my window and will you here, But you are far away my love, I know, Tomorrow I will go and bring you near.

I peer out my window at morning’s light, On earth’s blanket a graceful form lies stilled, Faster than feet, my heart races in fright, Her limp blue hand lies in mine unfulfilled.

O white tomb, why have you taken my love?

On her lash winter’s kiss rests from above.
