Winter’s Dance

The Adorning of the Jewels

The heavens match the ground below as the earth lay in a sheet of her cool tone.

From autumn’s vibrant shades against the ever setting sky,

To winter’s crisp sheath of white foretelling flurries soon to arrive.

From early morning dewdrops dripping sweetly from the vine,

To rolling mists that with the chill prove their place in time.

The landscape lay adorned with winter’s shining jewels.

The donor who bequeath them looks from everywhere upon you,

As you stand in wonder of the work of art before you.

The subject doesn’t need to primp or pose to get the light just right.

As winter morning sets the tone with vibrant white.

The artist and the donor will soon hijack its treasures back into the winds,

Until the sun retreats to far off lands and the dance begins again.
