Winter Night by the Fire
A poem about beauty and love
The great outdoors sleeps in stillness
Under a thick blanket of white
Trees standing bare and lifeless
Dance with the breeze of winter night
~
As a silent flowing river
Pale and cold, yet magnificent
Moonlight leaves a trail of silver
Leading lost souls to their ascent
~
Though not lost, mine is enraptured
Before the translucent canvas
A window through which wild nature
Is seen beautiful and timeless
~
The great indoors, warm and homely
Is a hideaway for lovers
Its fragrance, sweet and lovely
Stirs memories of past winters
~
As a bright crackling dancer
Fire flickers its orange light
Painting shades of a new chapter
A tale of true love at twilight
~
Though we stand tall and motionless
Our dim shadows dance with delight
The waltz only our walls witness
Speaks of an earthly paradise
