Wings of Wisdom on the Night of August 4
- International owl day reflections

Now darkness falls, stars ignite
Silent wings unfurl in flight
August fourth, we celebrate
The eternal mystery of owls
Eyes that pierce the inky black
Feathers soft, talons sharp attack
Rotating heads, a watchful gaze
These creatures fill us with amaze
Wisdom's symbol, perched so high
Hoo-hoo echoes 'cross the sky
From barn to forest, field to town
These hunters glide without a sound
Great horned, barn, snowy white
Each species brings its own delight
Tawny, screech, and burrowing too
A diverse family, tried and true
When we marvel at their elegance
Do we consider their shrinking space?
Threaten owls across all lands
For conservation, take up the pursuit
Protect the trees where owls reside
Ensure their future far and wide
In folklore, myth, and story old
The owl's importance has been told
From Athena's side to Harry's friend
Their cultural impact knows no end
As night falls on August four
Look to the sky and listen for
The gentle call of nature's sage
The owl - wise guardian of our age
In silence, strength, grace they soar
These birds we've come to so adore!

Beautiful!! The birds need our protection from humans, prowling cats, skyscrapers, wind turbines, space launches, light pollution, habitat destruction- thank you for beautifully depicting the owls and bringing attention. I hear the Great Horned hooting at night.❤️
