Winds of Change

Hear the opine wind, moaning and groaning

in harsh resistance to the subtle shift

of seasons crashing the structured planking

of the dock upon which this lone soul sits

***

a new embrace, at summer’s vibrant end,

a rush of leaves ride on the bitter breeze,

a quick flow of surface inspiration,

a virgin, shining eye unblinking sees

***

a drifting turtle, empty in its shell,

carried from the shore by currents unknown,

floating, destination uncertain swells

with the setting sun, a new drift is shown.

***

Will you find the stoic courage to defy,

rocked rhythmically by a waving lullaby?
