Will You Love Me When I Grow Old?

One of our biggest fear is aging, so I wrote a poem for you and me.

Won’t you cast your burdens on my shoulder?

Make me the bride of your dark naked thoughts,

Hear my mating calls, your wading plover,

Look upon my long legs on shores I sought.

*

Feast below the waters before I call,

Though you mock my weakness when you are strong,

Shield me with your kindness don’t disenthrall,

When grey hairs fight time and they write my song.

*

I was gifted time when you married me,

My wrinkles appear with my long grey hair,

But stay with me don’t search for her with glee,

When my notebook tell of my tear fill fear.

*

Draw close to me, when I can still be found,

Don’t wait until, I am a distant sound.

Aw, this hits right in the feels! Such a sweet, heartfelt vibe—asking for love to stick around even when life’s not as shiny. That ending? Simple but so deep💖. It’s like reading the heartbeat of a love that hopes to stand the test of time. The plea in the last two lines? Pure poetic power.✨🤗
